"I will only ask God to forgive them"
Sometimes I cry because we had to leave our home…
A young life in turmoil
When the Islamic State militant group took control of her town in Iraq, ten-year-old Myriam’s life was thrown into turmoil. The terrorists threatened to kill all Christians, so Myriam’s family gathered all they could carry and fled across the mountains to the safety of Kurdistan.
From the refugee camp that became her home, Myriam told a SAT-7 presenter that she longed to return to her former life: “I’m sad they drove us from our home. Why did they do that? I hope we go back home and I see my friends again.
“Sometimes I cry because we had to leave our home… but I’m not angry with God. I know that Jesus loves me."
I will only ask God to forgive them
Despite all that she’d been through, the terror, the loss, the injustice, Myriam had a remarkable message for those who had caused her so much pain. “I won’t do anything to them. I will only ask God to forgive them. God loves us all, not just me. God loves everybody,” she said.
Myriam’s message of peace and forgiveness stood in stark contrast to the militants’ violence, and it touched hearts around the world when it went viral on social media.
Pray for Children
Pray that children in the Middle East & North Africawhose lives are being destroyed by war, violence and hatred, will hear and understand the gospel of peace as they watch SAT-7’s programmes.
‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’
