£15 will help challenge harmful attitudes and enable viewers to see issues through God’s eyes
Where biblical views about the God-given value of all people are unknown, discrimination and damaging traditions are widespread. Individual programmes and specialist series on SAT-7 challenge cultural attitudes on subjects such as disability, FGM (female genital mutiliation), honour killings, and child marriages. They seek to enable all to know their true value in God’s eyes and achieve their full potential.
City of Stars on SAT-7 KIDS, for example, uses drama, art and music to educate viewers about disability. Produced with SETI-Caritas Egypt, the series showcases the talents of children with disabilities. Participants include a 15-year-old born without limbs, a 17-year-old athlete who has Down’s Syndrome, and blind children who learn to draw and colour using wax lines as a guide. The show’s female co-host says “I call them children with special abilities, not children with special needs. They concentrate on improving whatever abilities they have to the maximum.”
You discuss real and deep topics. You grasp the general problems of this world. During your programme, I cried with you. In the past, I used to always live in fear. But I felt the LORD speaking to me through you again.” Viewer from Turkey
