Following the alarming advance of so called Islamic State (IS), the children and youth of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are facing a tremendous crisis. Over 13 million children (40% of the school-age children from Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, and Sudan) in the region cannot go to school because of conflict.
Little Painter, a Farsi language children’s programme for 4- to 10-year-olds, contributes to the team’s goal of launching a 24-hour internet children’s channel in Farsi. Presenter Arezoo, a Christian whose name means “wish” in Farsi, will inspire young viewers to creativity through her gifts of painting and storytelling.
An innovative programme on SAT-7 KIDS tells Bible stories using the creative talents of Egypt’s first sand artist. In Stories in the Sand (in Arabic, “Ramleya fi Hekaya”), artist Michael Romany brings parables to life as he pours sand through his fingers and paints moving images on an uplit, glass table.
