It’s a great feeling to work together for a common cause with a group of friends. Over the years we have seen many faithful supporters come up with great ideas for raising money to support the ministry. We thought we’d share them with you. If you come up with ideas, share them with us so we can pass them on!
Events for fundraising
Host a dinner to raise money
Help us raise funds while you have a meal with friends! Your event can be whatever you want it to be. Have a breakfast together before morning worship, have lunch together afterwards, invite friends round for tea or have your home group over for an evening buffet. Serve traditional English food or try your hand at Iranian or Middle Eastern food. Do whatever is right for your church! Contact us for more ideas.
Personal challenges/Sponsored activities
If you’re taking part in a sponsored event – whether it’s a race, silence, bake-off or a swim – and you want to raise money for SAT-7, simply download a SAT-7 sponsorship form or use a fundraising website. We’re registered on a number of sites, but we recommend www.give.net, run by Christian charity Stewardship.
Sponsored walks
Are you part of a walking group or do you simply like a challenge? These stories of sponsored walks that other supporters have done might inspire you!
- The Two Moors Way crosses Dartmoor and Exmoor. John walked 102 miles raising money for SAT-7. It was John’s third sponsored walk for SAT-7, having done Offa’s Dyke and the Coast-to-Coast walk in previous years, raising £4,000 as a result!
- In 2009 a group of supporters trekked to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, raising funds for SAT-7. They raised almost £10,000, and experienced the joys and pains of a challenging 6 day trek, the highlight of which was reaching the summit after a strenuous 5 hour climb.
Don’t be put off if these are too strenuous – why not clip on a pedometer, set yourself a daily distance challenge and ask your friends to sponsor you.
Swim and raise money!
Do you love going for a swim each week? Check out Splashpath – it lets you set a challenge such as ‘Swim the Channel’. Then each week as you swim you can plot your progress online. Friends can follow your progress and sponsor you.
In memoriam and legacy
A special way to remember a loved one who has died is by making a donation in their memory. Another thing to consider is leaving a gift to SAT-7 in your will. Read our page about legacy giving. If you would like to find out more about leaving a legacy, please contact your solicitor as they can advise you best.
Alternative Gifts
Whatever the occasion, SAT-7 alternative gifts let your friends or family members know that their cause for celebration is also sharing God’s love across the Middle East. Browse our online gift catalogue and select a gift that will match your friend or relative’s interests. Gift values start at just £5. You’ll receive a greetings card, envelope and gift certificate to send on or you can choose to send a gift certificate by email.

Birthday gifts
The next time you have a birthday or special anniversary, why not ask your friends and family to make a donation to SAT-7 in lieu of a gift, as one supporter, Joan, did on her 80th birthday? Together, Joan’s friends raised over £1,000!
