“Let’s pray for Türkiye… a land where the first Christians appeared. A land so rich with Christian heritage… and yet so forgotten. Pray this Easter for the people of this country, so that they may remember and find their path to their true God, their true father, their Heavenly Baba.
May they no longer feel isolated, in despair and without hope. May they encounter Jesus in their lives and realise that the true God does not manipulate His subjects from above, determining their every move. No. Let them know in the very fibre of their being that the true God lives! He walks with us, among us. He stands with us in face of every trial. And he is never defeated. He is risen! He has done what no man has done. He lived… He served… He suffered… He died. But the story didn’t end there…
Pray that our people feel the same joy that the apostles felt when they first saw the resurrected Jesus. Let the Thomases among us ask for proof, for our God provides us with whatever we need. Pray that we can become truly one in Christ and sit at His table as His children of light.”

• February’s earthquakes claimed the lives of at least 45,000 people living in Türkiye and around 1.5 million have lost their homes.
• Türkiye is due to have presidential and parliamentary elections in May. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been in power for more than 20 years, first as Prime Minister and then as President, but support for him and his AKP party has fallen to around 30 per cent.
• More than two thirds of Turks are struggling to meet basic needs as a result of soaring inflation and a collapsing currency. Inflation peaked at 85.5 per cent last October but is expected to fall to 40 per cent by May.

SAT-7’s Turkish channel has its studio in Istanbul. SAT-7 TÜRK is the only Christian channel on the country’s national satellite, Türksat. Amid widespread misunderstanding and suspicion about Christianity in Türkiye, SAT-7 TÜRK is aiming to give Turkish viewers a fresh perspective of faith.
A small team from SAT-7 TÜRK visited the area affected by the earthquake to interview survivors and report on how churches are responding to the disaster.
