News & Prayer Live 8 March resources!
Thank you to those of you who joined us for our first News & Prayer Live events on 8 March with guests from our international SAT-7 staff! It is always encouraging to pray together with a shared heart for the Middle East & North Africa.
Melih Ekener, SAT-7 TÜRK Executive Director (pictured) and Annamaria Cedolin, SAT-7 TÜRK Executive Assistant, joined us to share about the situation in Türkiye after the devastating earthquake in their home country, Türkiye, and Syria. We heard how the SAT-7 TÜRK team has been responding to the crisis in terms of programming and viewer support. A small team from SAT-7 TÜRK visited the earthquake zone to record and document the status of the historical Christian buildings that the country has and the Christian aid movements in the area. "The places of worship were destroyed, but the church community was standing and working diligently," says Melih.
We also heard from SAT-7 ACADEMY Manager Juliana Sfeir, who is based in Lebanon. She shared news of two exciting projects that are helping to bring healing and hope to troubled communities. 'Lebanon our Story' is an exciting project that brings together young members aged 15-25 from various religious backgrounds and uses the power of storytelling to enable the youth to contribute to a shared narrative of hope that drives social cohesion and provides an incentive for meaningful civic engagements. 'Puzzle' is a similar project with a younger group of members aged 10-15, focusing on dealing with Freedom of Religion and Belief and social cohesion.
