Since Syria’s early democracy protests escalated into all-out conflict, SAT-7’s programmes have become a lifeline to Syrian viewers like Zaina.
SAT-7’s worship, Bible teaching and live programmes are uniting Christians across the region in prayer to help Syrian viewers like Zaina to know they are not alone in their struggles. Zaina is a regular viewer of Just for You, a weekly live show from Beirut. Zaina wrote recently:
“God bless you and bless this programme. May His peace prevail over the land of our beloved Syria. We believe that God will answer our prayers. ‘Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.'”
Just for You has been created with Syrian viewers in mind and offers counsel, biblical perspectives and prayer for those affected by the conflict in Syria. The presenter of the show, Nour Boutros, who himself had to flee the violence in his country, describes what is special about it: “We’re talking with Syrian people for the Syrian people. It’s an emotional thing for the audience to see Syrian people on television. The people are feeling stressed, they need someone to tell them ‘God is still there. Be strong, He is watching you, He will tell the storm to stop.'”
Two more viewers, weary from the surrounding violence, contacted the programme for prayer:
“Please pray for the evil and killing to cease. Pray for Syria and Homs because we’re tired of the shooting. Thanks for your efforts.”
“We need your prayers. We want to live in peace, no more fights, war and bloodshed, especially in Damascus where my family lives. Ask God to protect my family.”
