“Power to Forgive” is a month-long media advertising campaign leading up to a series of meetings which has been initiated at the invitation of church leaders in Erbil. This city of 1.3 million people lies in the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The campaign will climax with three evening meetings held on 28th Feb-2nd March led by internationally renowned Christian apologist Josh McDowell, worship leader Manal Samir and Pastor Raaf Azab. SAT-7 ARABIC, which has already been promoting the campaign, will broadcast the meetings live to millions across Iraq and the wider region.
Already the campaign has generated huge interest and galvanised large numbers of local volunteers. For the first time ever, TV and radio adverts and billboard posters in areas of high traffic are promoting a Christian message of forgiveness across an entire Iraqi city. The media campaign has generated 20,000 Facebook contacts and media reports by Kurdistan television and radio and Syria state television.
Great Commission Media (GCM) Ministries is sponsoring the meetings as part of a broader campaign to spread hope and forgiveness amongst people living in unstable regions.
Through events like this, SAT-7 seeks to partner with local churches and ministries and provide a platform where their voices can be heard, and for the Christian messages of hope, reconciliation and forgiveness to be promoted in countries that have been so divided by conflict, hate and suffering.
Ends.
