Fun and learning on the farm

A wide-ranging programme

At the heart of SAT-7 is a deep-seated sense of the need to care for all aspects of the human ‘being’ – educationally, physically and spiritually. One such programme which seeks to accomplish this is currently aired on SAT-7 KIDS. Fun Farm aims to bless children from head to toe with quality educational material, practical tips on staying healthy and innovative ways of sharing the Good News of the love of Jesus.

Episodes, which are filmed on a virtual farm, are inspired by the daily tasks involved in agriculture, such as milking, making bread and growing vegetables. Young viewers are introduced to a wide array of fun facts on health, nutrition and the natural environment. The farmer helps the children learn about animals and plants, and presenter, Joelle, teaches them about healthy eating and cooking. Children are taught creative art work and are inspired to “go green” by considering how they can look after the environment. The Fun Farm “gym” encourages children to participate in keep fit routines as they watch.

The current series features episodes themed around herbs and vegetables. A recent episode about mint saw the presenters explain the benefits of mint for health and its use as an ingredient in different dishes. Children were taught how to make tzatziki and do artwork using mint ice-cream!

Biblical values and ethics

However, embedded within the fun and games are important Christian messages. Storytelling weaves biblical values and ethics into everyday situations. In the mint episode, the presenters tell a story about a mint plant in a farm that survives a cold winter and then grows into a large thick plant full of leaves, teaching children to turn the difficult circumstances they go through into opportunities for growth.

Viewers have been sending in messages saying how much they love Fun Farm. One Grandma from Egypt sent this message:

I so love your programme, my grandchild watches it all the time. I would love to have your songs on a CD. God be with you all.”

Another parent wrote: “I am Ranya’s mother from Egypt, God bless you for this wonderful ministry, what a great programme. It is a very beautiful programme that my kids watch and love so much.”
